Careers in Sports: Charlotte Hornets Create a Buzz for Wake Tech Students

Thirty-two Wake Tech students got the chance to check out sports careers, courtesy of the Charlotte Hornets! The students, from 15 different degree programs, attended the team's annual Careers in Sports Day at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte.  The event, designed to showcase career options in professional sports and arena management, highlights resources available to future graduates.

"Wake Tech's involvement in Career in Sports Day was a collaboration between Pathways Male Mentoring Services, Career and Employment Resources, and Wake Tech Athletics," explained William Kincy, Coordinator of Pathways Male Mentoring Services. "Trips of this nature give our students a more realistic feel to their major and may serve to broaden the scope of their field of study."

The mission of Wake Tech Athletics is to encourage the development of highly-skilled student-athletes and will provide a variety of activities, programs, and support services to meet the needs of these students.  Careers in Sports Day was a perfect opportunity for athletics and student services to work together to show students the broad range of career pathways they can take upon graduating from the college.
