Four Eagles earn All-region accolades

Head shots - Four Wake Tech baseball players were selected for NJCAA All-Region 10 honors.  Andrew Holub, Cole Zak, and Cam Verrier received second-team all-region designation, while Marcus Leffall, Jr. earned All-Defensive recognition.

RALEIGH, NC – Four Wake Tech baseball players were selected for NJCAA All-Region 10 honors.  Andrew Holub, Cole Zak, and Cameron Verrier received second-team all-region designation, while Marcus Leffall, Jr. earned All-Defensive recognition.  All-region honors are determined by the Region 10 DII baseball coaches.

Holub, a freshman infielder from Bronxville, NY, played in 34 games this season for the Eagles.  At the plate, he batted .354 with 40 hits, 30 RBI, 36 runs scored, 10 doubles, and recorded 12 stolen bases.  He had 113 at bats and his .354 batting average was third on the team.  His 40 hits also ranked him third on the Eagles line-up for hitting.

Zak, sophomore outfielder from Cleveland, OH, appeared in 36 games in 2023.  He batted .355 and paced the Eagles with 44 hits, recorded a team high 32 RBI with nine doubles, and had 18 stolen bases.  Zak had 124 at bats with six home runs.  His .355 average was second highest for Wake Tech.  He also led the Eagles with .637 slugging percentage.

Verrier, a versatile sophomore infielder from Benson, NC, played in 41 games this season.  He batted .307 with a team high seven home runs, was first with 12 doubles, and a team high 137 at bats.  In addition, he recorded 29 RBI, 18 stolen bases and 42 hits.

Leffall, a freshman catcher from Villa Rica, GA, appeared in 31 games. He had a team leading .372 batting average with 78 at bats.  He drove in 24 RBI with 29 hits.  In addition, Leffall recorded six doubles, two triples, and two homeruns in his freshman campaign.  He had .990 fielding percentage.
