Eagles bounce back in a big way against Catawba Valley

HICKORY, NC – Wake Tech Baseball picked up their first conference win of the season on Sunday afternoon, defeating Catawba Valley in resounding fashion in the third and final game of their three-game weekend series. The Eagles improve to 4-9 on the season. After dropping both games in a doubleheader on Saturday, the Eagles bounced back to score 19 runs on Sunday, holding Catawba Valley to just five.

We saw home runs from Andrew Holub (1), Kris Sydlowski (3), and Garrett Thompson who hit his team-leading fourth. Thompson is also tied for second-most among Region 10 Division II players. Holub finished the game with four hits, four runs, four RBI, and three extra-base hits. He is now fourth in Region 10 DII in RBI (14).

By the end of the game, every player in the starting lineup recorded a hit. The team finished with 15.

Lucas Cash threw all six innings on Sunday, recording his first win of the season. He struck out four and walked just one batter.

The Eagles won't play a midweek game this week, but they travel to Guilford Tech on Saturday to start another three-game conference series. Guilford Tech have yet to play a conference game, but are 1-11 on the season.
