Wake Tech Rocket League teams wrap-up season

Wake Tech Rocket League

RALEIGH, NC – In their inaugural season, the Wake Tech Esports Rocket League teams advanced to the NJCAAE Spring Championship Tournament.

Unfortunately for the Eagles, the season ended just shy of their quest for a national championship.  Wake Tech had two teams in the field of 16 in the postseason.  In all, 43 teams competed in the regular season.  The Eagles were the only college with two teams advancing to the postseason tournament.

The Wake Tech Rocket League Gold Team fell to St. Clair (Mich.) Community College 4-0 in the first round.  The first game sent into overtime (4-3) and the second saw the Skippers win with 2-seconds remaining (5-4).  The remaining two games were 3-1 and 4-2.

The Wake Tech Rocket League Silver team fell to Waubonsee (Ill.) Community College 4-2.

While the Rocket League teams missed advancing to the final rounds of the NJCAAE and College Esports National Championship, the Wake Tech Overwatch team is advancing to the semi-finals which is set for April 29 at 8pm.  In all, 26 teams competed in Overwatch with Wake Tech in the final four remaining.

The Overwatch semifinals will be streamed live on twitch.tv/njcaae.
