MBB: A Salute to our Sophomores

Wake Tech Athletics would like to thank our outstanding sophomores for their hard work, determination, and competitiveness.  Nick JohnsonCaleb Samson, and Alan Clarke have grown not only as players on the court, but leaders off of it.

Nick Johnson

Started 45 out of 46 games played at Wake Tech, scored 529 points, and grabbed 397 rebounds.  In two seasons, we've watched his scoring increase as well as his tenacity on the glass.  Nick averaged 8.7 points per game during his freshman season, but that value increased to 13.5 points per game this season.  On the glass Nick averaged 7.7 rebounds per game in 2016-2017 and we saw this number increase to 9.3 rebounds per game in 2017-2018.  By nearly averaging a double double, Nick solidified himself as a valuable member of the team.

Caleb Samson

Made an appearance in 52 games during his career at Wake Tech and will exit with 79 points to his name.  While he may not get the on court accolades, there is no denying Caleb has a bright future.  His loyalty to Wake Tech and the men's basketball program is only a small part of his character.  He will be remembered for giving 110% and learning everything he could from other players and the coaching staff.  For the college, he was the first student given permission to "take over" the Wake Tech Students Snap account.  To be given so much responsibility takes not only initiative, but respect.  We thank Caleb for being a leader and look forward to watching his success as time goes by.

Alan Clarke

Saw action in 32 games during his career as an Eagle.  A valuable utility player, Alan could handle boxing out down low and shooting a long range jump shot with ease.  When coaches called on Alan to provide minutes, he always responded with confidence and respect.  Leaders can be shaped and molded in many different ways.  For Alan, it was his ability to get Wake Tech through tough stretches we'll remember most.
