It's not the ending the team wanted, but it is a major step forward for Coach Adam Wainwright and his staff.
Wake Tech was eliminated from the NJCAA DII National Tournament in Danville, Illinois this week after two tough losses to outstanding programs.
For the Eagles, it marks a return to the national stage since finishing fourth in the country in 2014. For Coach Wainwright, it means a new level of visibility for a basketball program he's led for the last three years.
According to Athletic Director Barry Street, Wake Tech will get back to the Southern Wake Campus around 10:00-11:00 pm tonight. While it may be a little late for adoring fans, rest assured the entire Wake Tech community is proud of this team and their efforts all season long.
