2017 Men's Soccer Season Recap

2017 Men's Soccer Season Recap

Under the direction of new head coach Ted Awana, Wake Tech men's soccer turned the corner in 2017.  With a line up filled with new faces and only a couple of returning sophomores, the Eagles have a lot to be excited about during the off-season.  If the team can return the nucleus from this squad and build around it in 2018, the Eagles could be in for an exciting ride.

Wake Tech concluded the season with a 6-8-1 overall record and finished 6-7-1 in conference.

On the offensive and defensive side of the field, there were two bright spots for the Eagles to build upon.  Freshman Sergio Romero finished fourth in goals scored in the conference with 12.  He also added 5 assists which was good enough to end the season ranked 13th in the conference.  When goals and assists are combined for overall points, Sergio Romero was the 6th best in conference.

Freshman Goalkeeper Cannon Willard allowed the fewest goals in conference with 9 while ranking third for goals-against average with 1.59.
