Eagles sweep opening series against the Pacers

Wake Tech at bat in 2023 season opener

RALEIGH, NC – Wake Tech Softball swept its 2023 season opener against William Peace University Developmental Team on Saturday at the WPU softball field.

In game one, the Eagles plated eight runs in the seventh inning to secure the 13-3 victory.  Allie Lane, Jessie Dillon, and Ayla Hammonds each went 3-for-4 at the plate with 2 RBI each.  Dillon recorded two doubles and Lane added one as well.  Nala McCallop recorded a two-run homer as well.

Tori James (1-0) pitched a complete game for the Eagles.  She allowed three runs, two earned, off nine hits. She also recorded five strikeouts.

In game two, Wake Tech rallied from a four run first inning deficit to defeat the Pacers 9-5.

Cadence Richardson, Lexi Jones, and Dillon each recorded two hits and two RBI.  Dillon and Jones also recorded doubles.

Jones (1-0) also picked up the win in the circle for Wake Tech.  She pitched a complete game allowing five runs, one earned, with two strikeouts.
