WBB: Super Sophomores Shine One Last Time

Wake Tech would like to thank our outstanding sophomores for their hard work, determination, and competitive spirit.  DaShawna SmithKhadijah Daniels, and Myrayna Watkins have grown not only as players on the court, but leaders off of it.

DaShawna Smith

Started 48 of her 54 games at Wake Tech and scored a total of 580 points in two season.  A crafty guard, DeShawna took charge in her sophomore season.  She was the main ball handler down the floor and is credited with setting up the teams half court offense.  DeShawna will be remembered not only as a leader, but a great free throw shooter.  In two seasons she averaged 69.1% from the line.  Combine her dependable free throw shooting to a career average of 10.7 points per game and you have one outstanding Eagle!

Khadijah Daniels

Started 38 out of 55 games played and scored a total of 663 points in two seasons.  It's safe to say the college has rarely seen a player improve so much from their freshman to sophomore season.  Khadijah credits her commitment to practice for helping her grow exponentially as a player.  The proof is in her points per game average- as a freshman she averaged 6.9 points per game, but that number grew to 18 points per contest as a sophomore!  She scored only 200 points in her first season and that exploded to 463 points as a sophomore.

Myrayna Watkins

Started 46 out of 51 games played and scored a total of 683 points.  Myrayna will be remembered as a consistent player who brought her best each and every game.  In 2018 she averaged 13.5 points per game.  For her career, she shot a blistering 41% from the field while knocking down 79% of her free throws.  While an injury during her sophomore year may have slowed her down for a few games, Myrayna projects a confidence and leadership we enjoy seeing here at Wake Tech.
