WBB: Alison Beasley Named Head Coach

Alison Beasley Named Head Coach

Wake Tech Athletic Director Barry Street announced Alison Beasley will serve as the head coach for Wake Tech women's basketball.  Coach Beasley has been running the program as the interim head coach since the end of the 2018 season.

"I'm delighted to promote Alison to head coach," said Street, "she's been a loyal assistant coach, knows the game, and believes in our mission at Wake Tech."

Coach Beasley is from Durham and played basketball at Southern Durham High School.  Alison followed her love for basketball at Wake Tech and played two years under the direction of Athletic Director Barry Street in 2010 and 2012.  Since 2014 she's been an assistant coach for the Eagles and is looking forward to this opportunity, "I've dreamed of being a collegiate women's basketball coach. Being able to accept this position is a dream come true. I find it especially meaningful that I had the honor to play here under coach Street, and now to follow in his footsteps as the first assistant coach, and now as head coach, is quite the honor and privilege."

There are challenges ahead for the Eagles, but coach Beasley is ready to take the program to new heights, "I envision a turn around for the program, not just on the court, but off the court as well. Academics and family are two important factors for me and my assistants! We will aim to maintain a high GPA and we will always be a family."

Coach Beasley understand the importance of higher education, she obtained a bachelors degree in Business and Sports administration from Southern New Hampshire University and is currently working toward her masters at East Carolina University. Being responsible in and out of the classroom is a high priority to Alison, "education is important to me as I teach these ladies to become women on and off of the court," she said, "I plan to instill in them the mindset that education must always come first. Winning championships means nothing without degrees."

Wake Tech women's basketball plays their home games at the Southern Wake Campus, Building N, Gym.  Here's a sneak peek at the 2018-2019 season schedule.
