Pettaway and Spencer receive All-Region honors

RALEIGH, NC – Two Wake Tech Women's Basketball players received All-Region 10 honors over the weekend, with sophomore forward Aquarius Pettaway being named to the first team, and freshman guard Journee Spencer receiving an honorable mention.

Pettaway concluded the regular season as the Eagles' leading scorer, averaging 18.2 points per game, which is third-best among Region 10 DII players. She was second in the region and third among all NJCAA DII players in rebounds per game (14.1). Her field goal percentage (60.8) is third-best in Region 10 and fifth in the NJCAA. On January 27 against Louisburg, Pettaway finished with a career-high 36 points, shooting 15-for-21 from the field and 6-for-6 from the free throw line. While she is a dominant paint presence, Pettaway is also productive from the charity stripe, shooting 72%. That's an improvement from her 61.6% mark in her freshman season.

Spencer received an honorable mention, mainly for her abilities as a playmaker on offense and disrupter on defense. She is averaging an incredible 6.5 steals per game, which leads the entire NJCAA. She also averages 5 assists per game, which is sixth-best in the region.

Wake Tech plays Brunswick on Monday, March 4 at the South Campus Gym for the first round of the NJCAA Region 10 Division II Tournament.
