Women's Soccer: Season Recap

Women's Soccer: Season Recap

The 2017 season should be remembered more for the challenges the team faced as opposed to match scores and overall record.

Injuries plagued the Eagles from the onset of the season, and at times Wake Tech played several players down.  The one thing you could always count on was the heart the team showed for the game, each other, and the college.

It can be deflating when players go down injured and a team is forced to reorganize on the fly.  Wake Tech should hold their heads high considering the circumstances.

One game that truly captured the 2017 season was the Region X play-in game against Patrick Henry.  The Eagles had faced the Patriots twice during the regular season and lost 4-0 and 7-0.  Wake Tech could have allowed the Patriots to walk over them, but the team came out fighting and left it all out on the field.  After 104 minutes of scoreless soccer and 24 shots on goal saved by Sophomore goalkeeper Rebekah Simpson, the Eagles fell in double overtime 1-0.
