WSoc Eagles Build Confidence in Loss

Eagles fall to Southern Virginia University 2-0.

Wake Tech women's soccer took a huge step forward in the opening match of the 2018 season.  Coach Kristopher Hanks has managed to bring a renewed confidence to the team and it was on display during a 2-0 defeat to Southern Virginia University.

If you're only looking at wins and losses as a measure of success, you'll need to take a step back and appreciate what took place at Ting Park in Holly Springs.  The Eagles were up against an NCAA DIII opponent that's on the upswing as a program.  The Knights have a full roster of 24 players from 13 states across the country.

In the first 45 minutes, Wake Tech matched SVU step for step and held the Knights to a 0-0 score.  It wasn't until the second half where fatigue caught up with the Eagles and Southern Virginia University was able to finish off two goals and claim victory.

This game goes beyond a loss.  Wake Tech played with confidence, moved the ball at will, and never backed down.  The sky is the limit for this team.  If the squad is able to remain healthy throughout the season, they're going to make some noise in Region X.
