WSoc: Six Eagles Selected to All-Region Teams

2018 Women's Soccer Team

Women's soccer had an amazing season under first-year head coach Kristopher Hanks.

Wake Tech Athletics would like to congratulate our SIX NJCAA, All-Region Team members.

We'll break down their selection and hear how each player feels about this accomplishment.

NJCAA, Region X First Team:

Rachel Howard (GK): "Being named to the First Team All-Region team was an extremely humbling experience. Knowing where the team came from last year to the growth it experienced this year, and the different faces we have had on the team and on my back line.  Defense speaks wonders for the team and program.  I realize that this would not be possible without God, my coaches, my teammates, and my instructors, so thank you beyond measures to all."

"In addition, being able to share this experience with my twin sister Rebecca and her also being named to the First Team All-Region, will be something that I will never forget and forever cherish. I really look forward to seeing how this year has shaped the program for the future players and seeing the team/program continue to achieve big things.  Thank you again to all my teammates, coaches and instructors for the best two years I could have experienced at Wake Tech!  I enjoyed it all. I hate that it's my last season but I'm looking forward to being apart of the program somehow or another in the near future."

RoseMarie Fitzpatrick (F): "I'm really happy to be recognized as one of the best forwards in the league. It shows that other coaches noticed how I played as well which I was not expecting and it means a lot to me!  Wake Tech women's soccer has been the most loving and supporting team I have been on and I'm so happy to be a part of that. I'm glad to have gotten so close with each of my teammates because they were all so helpful and nice especially starting college and a new school where I wasn't used to it was nice to have so much love and support around me."

Rebecca Howard (D): "It's an honor to receive this recognition and it couldn't have come to fulfillment without all of the support of my family and teammates. I want to thank my family, my teammates, and my coaches for always pushing me so hard and believing in me. I wouldn't be where I am today if I didn't have them."

NJCAA, Region X Second Team

Alana Navarrette (M): "Being named the 2nd Team All-Region squad is a huge accomplishment for me because I work so hard to be the best I can both for my team and individually as a player. I am just honored to be recognized knowing there is a lot of talented players on our team and league. This made it that much more valued to me with the short time I was able to play at Wake Tech."

NJCAA, Region X, Honorable Mention

Eiline Gonzalez (D): "I feel like none of us would have made it as a member of the All-Region team without the help of one another and the help of our coaches. We try to prove ourselves every time we step on the field."

Katia Canales (D): "This means so much to me as a first-year player.  At first, I felt really nervous and scared, but as the time passed by and with the support of my teammates and coaches I built my confidence and I gave my best in every game. I think all my effort paid off and was recognized. I feel very happy and excited to be part of the honorable mention in the All-Region squad."
