Women's Soccer soars into championship game with 4-1 win over Louisburg

RALEIGH, NC – Wake Tech Women's Soccer advanced to the NJCAA Region 10 Championship on Thursday afternoon after defeating Louisburg 4-1 in the semifinal. It is the Eagles' first trip to the championship game since 2022.

It took less than 10 minutes for Wake Tech to get on the score sheet, with Victoria Renna recording her ninth goal of the season in the ninth minute to make it 1-0. Just three minutes after that, sophomore midfielder Christina Olivares doubled the lead, tapping in a free kick from Emily Parker. Parker scored her team-leading 11th goal in the 32nd minute to make it a 3-0 lead. It was the fourth time this season that the Eagles scored three goals in the opening half.

Olivares scored her second goal of the game in the 52nd minute, marking the second multi-goal game of her career. The first came on October 12, 2022 against Lenoir.

Louisburg defender Hailey Joiner pulled one back in the 84th minute on a counter attack after a Wake Tech corner to make it 4-1. From there the Eagles were able to wind down the remaining minutes and close out the victory.

The winner of Saturday's championship will host the Region 8 champion in the NJCAA South Atlantic District Championship, with a berth to the national tournament up for grabs. That game will be played on Saturday, October 28.
