Beach Volleyball splits with Sandhills for program's inaugural win

Wake Tech Beach Volleyball at Southern Sand Volleyball wins 3-2 in game 1 and falls in game one 2-3.

APEX, NC - Wake Tech Beach Volleyball defeated Sandhills Community College 3-2 in the second match to earn the program's first win as a varsity team.  

"We're very happy with how the team played today," said head coach Liz Reif. "It's nice to get that first breakthrough win for our program in its first year!"

In the final match on Wednesday, the second pair of Audrey Gibbs and Ellexa Falzarano won 2-0, the third pair Jaide Holliday and Stormie Coates won 2-0, and the fifth pair Kat Ivkovich and Kennedy George won 2-0. The first pair of Gabi Greene and Lauren Baker lost 0-2 and the fourth pair Jakeya Paylor and Megan Rivenbark fell 1-2.

Sandhills defeated Wake Tech 3-2 in the first match of the day. The first pair of Greene and Baker won 2-0 and the fifth pair of Ivkovich and George won 2-0. Falzarado and Gibbs (2) 0-2, Jorja Tuten and Paylor (3) lost 0-2, and Holliday and Rivenbark (4) lost 1-2. 

The Eagles are back in action when they host Spartanburg (SC) Methodist College on Tuesday, March 28, at 1pm for two matches at Southern Sands Volleyball in Apex, NC.
