A walk-off single from Evan Maley brought home the winning run for the Eagles in a 6-5 victory over NC State Club at North Main Athletic Complex on Sunday.
Maley racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Eagles. He singled in the fifth and ninth innings.
Hampton Thomas got it done on the hill on the way to a win. He tossed 1 2/3 innings of shutout ball. He struck out two, walked none and surrendered one hit.
Wake Tech jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third. A triple by Angel Santiago, scoring Keegan Woolford and Austin Warren started the inning off.
The Eagles put up one run in each of the fourth, fifth, sixth, and ninth. In the fourth, the Eagles scored on a single by Matt Mauldin.
One the Eagles baserunners came all the way around to score in each of the fifth, sixth and ninth. In the fifth, the Eagles scored on an RBI single by Maley, scoring Travis Owens.
