The Eagles fell 14-10 to Cuyahoga CC in seven innings on Sunday at North Main Athletic Complex despite racking up 12 hits and 10 runs.
Keegan Woolford racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Eagles. He singled in the fifth inning and homered in the sixth inning.
Four relief pitchers finished off the game for Cuyahoga CC. Roldan faced three batters in relief, while Linhares managed to record three outs to aid the victory.
Cuyahoga CC jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Starcorc started the rally for with a double. A groundout by Kemp then moved Starcorc from second to third.
The Eagles quickly matched Cuyahoga CC's strong inning with a one-run inning of their own in the first. Wake Tech scored on an RBI double by Angel Santiago.
The lead stayed with Cuyahoga CC after the second, when it scored four runs on an RBI single by Kemp and a three-run triple by Starcorc.
Cuyahoga CC pushed one run across in each of the third, fifth and seventh. In the third, Cuyahoga CC scored on a sacrifice fly by Miuer, scoring Perez.
Cuyahoga CC scored three runs in the fourth inning, and then followed it up with three more in the sixth. In the fourth, Cuyahoga CC scored on a three-run double by Minor, scoring Starcorc, Kemp and Mora.
After pushing across two runs in the bottom of the fifth, the Eagles faced just a 10-4 deficit. A two-run double by Garrett Wise gave the Eagles life. Finally, Linhares got Logan Barbour to ground out to end the threat.
The Eagles scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth to cut their deficit to three. An RBI double by Matt Mauldin, a sacrifice fly by Austin Warren, a two-run home run by Woolford, an RBI triple by Wise, and an RBI double by Barbour set off the Eagles rally. Cuyahoga CC stopped the rally after Fatsie got Jacob Sipe to fly out.
