Wake Tech Fends Off Chesapeake, 7-5

Chesapeake CC was unable to fight back from the big hole it dug itself into against the Eagles, and lost 7-5 to the Eagles after falling behind by six runs in the fifth inning.

Chesapeake scored on an RBI single by Nevins and an RBI single by Williams in the sixth inning and a two-run double by Nevins and an RBI single by Hancock in the seventh inning.
 
Matt Mauldin had a hot bat for the Eagles. Mauldin went 2-3 and scored two runs. He singled in the fourth inning and tripled in the sixth inning.
 
Bronson Short pitched lights out for the Eagles. Chesapeake CC managed just two hits off of Short, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two during his five innings of work.
 
Gill couldn't get it done on the rubber for Chesapeake CC, taking a loss. He allowed seven runs in six innings, walked none and struck out six.

The game's last lead went to the Eagles thanks to a first inning rally that saw one run cross the plate on an error.

The Eagles added four more runs in the bottom of the third. Keegan Woolford kicked things off with a single, scoring Caleb Coyle and Mauldin. That was followed up by Angel Santiago's single, plating Woolford.

After posting one run in the fifth, the Eagles again scored one in the sixth. In the fifth, the Eagles scored on an RBI single by Travis Owens, scoring Santiago.
