Hot bats not enough, the Eagles succumb to Catawba Valley, 13-10

Travis Owens racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Eagles. He homered in the first inning and singled in the ninth inning.
 
Tilghman got the win for Catawba Valley. He allowed two runs over one inning. Tilghman struck out one, walked two and gave up three hits.
Trey Davis was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just 3 1/3 innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed four runs.

Catawba Valley jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Ford singled, scoring Hubbard after a double by Hubbard got things started.

It didn't take long for the Eagles to respond as they scored three runs of their own in the first.

The Red Hawks never trailed after scoring four runs in the sixth on a two-run double by Wright and two singles.

One run in the bottom of the seventh helped the Eagles close their deficit to 10-9. A passed ball triggered the Eagles' comeback. The Eagles threat came to an end when Baustia finally got Caleb Coyle to ground out.
