Wagner throws one-hit shutout; Eagles take Saturday DH

FAYETTEVILLE, NC – Bryson Wagner threw a one-hit shutout in game two of a doubleheader against NJCAA Region 10 foe Fayetteville Tech leading to a 12-0 five inning victory over the Trojans Saturday afternoon at Trojan Field.

The Eagles posted four runs in the opening inning of game two and never looked back.  Wake Tech added a big six-run fourth inning leading to the shortened game.

Wagner (1-1) went all five innings allowing one hit while striking out six.

Andy Duran went 3-for-3 with two doubles and scored two runs to pace the Eagles at the plate. Cole Cunningham went 2-for-2 with a triple and plated three runs. Johny McDonald went 2-for-4 with a double for the Eagles.

In the first game, Wake Tech defeated FTCC 11-3 in eight innings.

Wayne Mize went 2-for-5 with triple and a RBI.  McDonald (2-for-4) and Jordan Blalock (1-for-1) each had doubles. Blalock also had two RBI. Cunningham went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI.  Cameron Verrier added two RBI for the Eagles.

Trevor Glisson (1-1) pitched four complete innings allowing just one run off four hits with three strikeouts for his first victory on the mound for Wake Tech. Dawson Smith allowed just one run with one hit and two strikeouts to earn his first save.

The Eagles will look to sweep the first series between these two clubs on Sunday.  First pitch is scheduled for noon at Trojan Field at JP Riddle Stadium.
