Wake Tech takes the rubber match against Cleveland

FOREST CITY, NC – Three different Eagles recorded three hits each helping Wake Tech to a 9-4 victory over Cleveland Community College Saturday afternoon at McNair Stadium in Forest City to claim the first three game series against the Yetis.

Wayne Mize went 3-for-5 with a homerun. Camden Munise went 3-for-5 with three doubles and Nick Badgett went 3-for-4 with two RBI.  In all, eight Eagles tallied two or more hits with the team totaling 19.

Wake Tech (8-9, 4-8) struck first in third inning scoring four runs with two outs.  Mize led off the third with a walk and Cole Cunningham connected on a well hit single up the middle to plate Mize.  Christian Schmidt followed up with a single. Munise hit his first double of the afternoon to score Schmidt.  Badgett hit a line drive to left that brought home Schmidt and Munise.

The Eagles scored single runs in the fifth through the ninth inning. Cleveland (10-16, 4-8) threatened in the bottom of the ninth with two runs as rain began to fall.

Starting pitcher Luke Absher went 5.2 innings allowing five hits with two runs, both earned, with six strikeouts to get the win.
