Eagles bounce back with win over Lenoir

Jordan Blalock earns his first win on the mound for the Eagles.

KINSTON, NC – Wake Tech returned to the win column with a convincing 13-3 win over Lenoir Community College Wednesday afternoon on the road at Lancer Field.

The Eagles plated two runs in the first inning sparked by Cam Verrier's lead-off single into center field. Riley Kenney hit a two out single into left field that scored Verrier on an error on the left fielder. Josh Harbinson reached on an error on the Lancer third baseman that resulted in Kenny plating the second run.

The Lancers responded with two runs of their own in the first inning, but that is as close as LCC would come.

The Eagles scored three more runs in the second inning. Verrier drove in Hunter Sells for the first run in the second. Andy Duran singled into left field moving Verrier to third. Verrier found his way home when Duran stole second. Kenney's RBI single into left scored Duran for the three-run inning. The Eagles would never look back.

Verrier, Kenney, Wayne Mize, and Nick Badgett each went 2-for-3 with an RBI to lead the Eagles. Mize and Brandon Benfield each had doubles.

Jordan Blalock (1-1) earned his first mound victory for Wake Tech. He allowed just one hit in two innings of relief of starter Bryson Wagner. In all, seven Eagle pitchers combined to allow just five hits. Camden Munise went two innings in relief of Blalock and held the Lancers to no runs or hits while recording four strikeouts.

The Eagles return to action on Saturday, April 17, against Fayetteville Tech for a 1pm doubleheader at Ting Stadium in Holly Springs, NC.
