Three Eagles named to All-Region Team

Wake Tech Baseball Head Coach Robert Dudley today announced that three Eagles were named to the NJCAA All-Region 10 DII Baseball Team.

RALEIGH, NC – Wake Tech Baseball Head Coach Robert Dudley today announced that three Eagles were named to the NJCAA All-Region 10 DII Baseball Team.

Van Gupton Jr., Nick Badgett, and Wayne Mize were selected by the conference coaches to the second team.

Gupton paced the team with a .431 batting average and a team high 18 stolen bases.  Gupton was also named to the Region 10 All-Defensive Team for his efforts in the Wake Tech outfield.

Badgett, a middle infielder, recorded a batting average of .389 and was second on the team in stolen bases with 14. He was third on the team with 37 hits.

Mize, making the team in the role of DH, hit .345 and led the team with 38 hits and was fifth in RBI's with 24.  He was tied for second on the Eagles' roster with eight homeruns.

The Eagles finished the season as the third seed in the Region 10 West Division with a final record of 20-17 and 14-13 in the conference.  In addition, Wake Tech connected on 45 home runs in a short season in 2021. The 45 home runs set a team record despite playing just 37 games in 2021.
