Eagles Split DH with Patriots on Sophomore Day

Wake Tech 2022 Sophomores.

HOLLY SPRINGS, NC – Wake Tech split a doubleheader with Patrick & Henry Community College on Wednesday afternoon at Ting Stadium in Holly Springs.

In the second game, Wake Tech used a four-run third inning and held on for the for 6-5 victory. Wayne Mize hit a solo homerun to lead-off the inning.  With two outs, Andy Duran singled on a line drive to plate Christian SchmidtKelan Polard then singled into center field that brought home Nick Badgett and Duran.

The Eagles led 6-3 heading into the fifth inning when the Patriots plated two runs.

Mize went 2 for 3 with a run scored and 2 RBI.  Polard was also 2 for 3 with 2 RBI.  Badgett hit a solo homerun in the second inning.

Austin Thompson (4-3) earned the win for Wake Tech.  He went 4.2 innings in the start allowing four runs off five hits with five strikeouts.  John Davenport closed the game with 2.1 scoreless innings with three strikeouts.

In game one, the Patriots edged the Eagles 5-2. P&HCC scored three late unanswered runs to secure the win.  No Eagles recorded multiple hits.

Wake Tech travels to Guilford Tech on Saturday for doubleheader.
