Wake Tech Esports in action and ready for the post season.

RALEIGH, NC – Wake Tech's Fall 2022 Esports Rocket League and Valorant teams enter the NJCAAE Fall postseason each with unblemished records. The Fall regular season Open Division started October 3 and lasted for seven weeks ending on November 17.

In Rocket League, the Eagles went 7-0 in their respective group.  Wake Tech only lost one set in the best of five competitions throughout the season and won six others 3-0. The Eagles are the No. 2 overall seed and received a first-round bye and will face either Ocean County (NJ) College or Northwestern Michigan on November 28.  Fifty-seven teams were divided into groups of seven.

In Valorant, Wake Tech went 7-0 in their group.  Like Rocket League, the Eagles only lost one game through the entire regular season in the best of three matches.  The Eagles open up Valorant postseason on November 28 and received a first-round bye with a No. 5 seed.  They will play either Finger Lakes (NY) or Northampton (NY) in the second round. Fifty-three teams were divided into six different groups for regular season competition.

In the Spring 2022 season, Wake Tech advanced to the NJCAAE Championship game in both Valorant and Rocket League.  In the Spring 2021, Wake Tech won the NJCAAE Spring 2021 championship in Overwatch.

Rocket League is a fantastical sport-based video game featuring a competitive game mode based on teamwork and outmaneuvering opponents. Players work with their team to advance the ball down the field, and score goals in their opponents' net (similar to soccer with cars).

Valorant is a tactical shooting game involving two teams with five players in each team. Every game has 25 rounds and the team that wins 13 of them first wins the game. Players can choose their in-game characters called agents at the start of the game.

The National Junior College Athletic Association Esports (NJCAAE), founded in 2019, is the only national esports association exclusively for two-year colleges.
