Wake Tech Rocket League wins Fall 2022 Open Division Championship

Eagles defeat Borough of Manhattan (NY) to win Fall Open NJCAAE Championship,

RALEIGH, NC – Wake Tech captured the Fall 2022 Open Division Rocket League Championship by downing Borough of Manhattan (NY) Community College in a thrilling 4-2 victory.

Three of the six games went into overtime, but the Eagles were the first team to four victories in the best of seven games championship series.

The Eagles, the tournament's second seed, fell behind early dropping the first game 1-0. 

In game two, Wake Tech tied up the match with a decisive 3-0 victory. Daniel Andrews (i7daniel) scored Wake Tech's first goal at the 2:46 mark and added another with 14 seconds remaining. Noah-James Colon (Blirry) scored the second Eagle goal with 1:43 remaining.

In game three, the Panthers defeated the Eagles 3-2 in three minutes of extra time.

Game four saw the Eagles bury the first two goals at the 4:56 mark to make it 1-0 and the second with 48 seconds to go to make it 2-0 before two BMCC goals with 41 and 20 seconds remaining helped the Panthers force overtime.  Craig Bartik (Deadzie) found the back of the net 32 seconds into overtime for the Eagle win.

Wake Tech won the fifth game 2-1 in overtime with Bartik again scoring the winning goal.

The Panthers would not make it easy for the Eagles in game six. BMCC scored at the 3:57 mark to give BMCC the early 1-0 lead, but Wake Tech closed it out strong with two straight goals, with the equalizer coming with 59 seconds left to tie it at one and 12 seconds later with the winner to give the Eagles a 2-1 victory and the 2022 NJCAAE Fall Rocket League Championship.
