Wake Tech Esports Open House and Interest Meeting April 17 & 24

RALEIGH, NC - Wake Tech Esports is hosting an interest meeting and open house on Monday, April 17, and Monday, April 24, for prospective students interested in learning more about the program. The times for both dates are from 2:30-5:30pm and interested students would not need to attend both dates.

The interest meeting and open house will be an opportunity for any student planning to attend Wake Tech during the 2023-24 academic year to meet with Esports Director Patrick McNair, current members of the team, and see Wake Tech's Esports competition venue.

Wake Tech Esports offers opportunities for students to compete on a varsity level team, open intramural competition, and other support roles.

LOCATION:
The Wake Tech Esports Arena on the Southern Wake Tech Campus Building N.  The Southern Wake Tech Campus is located at 9101 Fayetteville Road in Raleigh.

INFORMATION ON WAKE TECH ESPORTS
Wake Tech is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association Esports (NJCAAE). The esports program was established in Spring 2021. That spring season, the Eagles won the NJCAAE championship in Overwatch. In all, Wake Tech reached the NJCAAE championship game in four different seasons with runners-up titles in Overwatch (Fall 2021), Rocket League (Spring 2022), and Valorant (Spring 2022). The Eagles captured the Fall 2022 NJCAAE Rocket League League Open Division National Championship.

Wake Tech has a primary esports competition and practice venue located at the Southern Wake Campus in Raleigh featuring 14 Lenovo T730 with NVIDIA RTX 2080 Graphics. 9th Gen Intel® Core™ i9-9900K with vPro. 

As a compliment to the Esports program, Wake Tech has a Simulation and Game Development (SGD) academic program providing students with a broad background in the simulation and video game industry. The curriculum includes practical applications in creative arts visual arts, audio/video technology, modeling, animation, design, programming, and management.
