Eagles qualify for College League of Legends Championship

RALEIGH, NC – Wake Tech's League of Legends team has qualified for the 2024 College League of Legends Championship by virtue of winning the National Junior College Athletic Association Esports (NJCAAE) Spring title.

The tournament field was announced on April 22 and Wake Tech will play top seeded Maryville (MO) University on April 27 at 2:00 pm in the opening round.

32 teams from across the United States and Canada qualify for the College Championship.  Four regional conferences (North, South, East, and West) playing in a regular season and playoff structure amongst themselves and partner athletic conferences, such as the NJCAAE, competing in their own season formats to qualify.

In addition to the NJCAAE, other participating conferences include familiar names such as the Big East Conference, Peach Belt Conference, and the Mountain West.

A few of the institutions advancing to the tournament include UC Irvine, Florida, Southern California, and Mississippi.  

The 32-school College Championship bracket, with teams qualifying from Championship Division conference playoffs or via selection by the College Championship Selection Committee, will culminate in a live finals event June 8-9 at Boise State University.

Scholarship prizes for the top 16 College Championship schools, awarded directly to players and student staff, with the winning program getting $10,000 per student.
