RALEIGH, NC – Two Wake Tech Esports teams are looking to capture National Junior College Athletic Association Esports (NJCAAE) Premier Series National Championships in December.
On Monday, December 2, Wake Tech's League of Legends team will square off against Northern Virginia Community College for the East Division title. The Eagles are the top-seed and the Nighthawks are seeded second. Wake Tech defeated Guilford Tech (NC) Community College to advance to the East Championship. As the top two teams, Wake Tech and NOVA will each advance to the NJCAAE Premiere Series National Championship bracket to face the top two teams from the Central Division.
On Friday, December 6, the Rocket League team will play No. 1 seed Daytona State (FL) College at 6pm in the loser's bracket elimination game. Wake Tech, the third seed, defeated Heartland (IL) Community College in Round 1 but got upended by DSC in the second round. Wake Tech then defeated Madison (WI) College and Heartland for the second time to create the rematch with DSC. The winner of Friday's game will play No. 2 seed Lackawanna (PA) College for the East Division Championship. Both teams will have to beat LC twice for the East title. As one of the top-four teams remaining, the Eagles will advance to the NJCAAE National Championship bracket against the top four teams from the Central Division.
