RALEIGH, NC - Wake Tech Esports is hosting Interest Meetings for the Spring 2025 season for prospective students interested in learning more about the Eagles' championship level program.
INTEREST MEETING INFORMATION:
Monday, January 13 (6-7:30pm)
Wednesday, January 15 (6-7:30pm)
LOCATION:
The Wake Tech Esports Arena on the Southern Wake Tech Campus Building N (Room 117). The Southern Wake Tech Campus is located at 9101 Fayetteville Road in Raleigh.
The tryouts will be an opportunity for any students interested in competing in the spring to meet the other students and Esports Director, Patrick McNair.
Wake Tech Esports offers opportunities for students to compete on a varsity level team, open intramural competition, and other support roles.

League of Legends and Rocket League
However, more titles can be added based on student interest.
ELIGIBLITY REQUIREMENTS:
To play on the varsity and junior varsity level teams students must be enrolled full time in the Spring 2025 semester (12 or more hours) and have a 2.0 GPA or higher. If new participant, cumulative GPA requirements are not required.

INFORMATION ON WAKE TECH ESPORTS
Wake Tech is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association Esports (NJCAAE). The esports program was established in Spring 2021. That spring season, the Eagles won the NJCAAE championship in Overwatch. In all, Wake Tech reached the NJCAAE championship game in four different seasons with runners-up titles in Overwatch (Fall 2021), Rocket League (Spring 2022), and Valorant (Spring 2022). The Eagles captured the Fall 2022 NJCAAE Rocket League League Open Division National Championship. In addition, the League of Legends team won the Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 NJCAAE Premier Division (Tier 1) National Championship.Wake Tech has a primary esports competition and practice venue located at the Southern Wake Campus in Raleigh featuring 14 Lenovo T730 with NVIDIA RTX 2080 Graphics. 9th Gen Intel® Core™ i9-9900K with vPro.

Wake Tech has three levels of competition available for students.
Varsity: For the true competitors, this is where you'll challenge yourself, push your limits, and play alongside like-minded individuals who are dedicated to winning. If you're a high level player looking to elevate your game and be part of a high-performance team culture, this is the spot for you. Students are required to be enrolled in 12 or more credits with a 2.0 GPA or higher.
Junior Varsity Team: Looking for a more laid-back experience? The JV team focuses on having fun, building camaraderie, and enjoying experience without the pressure of intense competition. All ranks are welcome, and it's a great way to experience team play in a relaxed environment. Students are required to be enrolled in 12 or more credits with a 2.0 GPA or higher.
Open Intramural Play: This is for students that just want to play for fun and on their own schedule.
As a compliment to the Esports program, Wake Tech has a Simulation and Game Development (SGD) academic program providing students with a broad background in the simulation and video game industry. The curriculum includes practical applications in creative arts visual arts, audio/video technology, modeling, animation, design, programming, and management.
