Shayne Saigo named NJCAA Second Team All-America

RALEIGH, NC – Wake Tech's Shayne Saigo was named a Second Team Division II All-American on Wednesday by the National Junior College Athletic Association.

A Knightdale High School product, Saigo transferred to Wake Tech for his sophomore season.

During his sophomore campaign at Wake Tech, Saigo was fourth in the nation in points per game (23.6), 30th in the nation in total points (519), and 21st in rebounds per game (9.6). He scored a season high 37 points against Sandhills Community College on November 13.  He also grabbed 20 rebounds against Caldwell Tech on December 29. In all, he had 13 games with double-figure rebounds.

Other accolades include being selected the 2022 NJCAA Region 10 DII Men's Basketball Player of the Year.

NJCAA All-American selections are comprised of three teams of 10 student-athletes each. All-America selections are made by the NJCAA Division II Women's Basketball Committee.

Saigo will continue his academic and athletic career at Shaw University in Raleigh.
