RALEIGH, NC – Wake Tech Men's Basketball moved to 3-2 on the season after losing to Fayetteville Tech on Wednesday night when the Trojans hit a go-ahead shot with 0.4 seconds remaining in the game. The Eagles trailed by double digits at multiple points throughout the second half but managed to claw back and hold the lead with less than 20 seconds to play.
Fayetteville Tech had the ball and trailed by one and once they got into the half court, head coach Brian Hurd used his final timeout to get his team ready for one final shot with 12 seconds remaining. They were fouled with 3.6 seconds left and hit one of two free throws to tie the game at 77. Wake Tech turned the ball over on the inbound pass coming out of a timeout, giving the Trojans one more shot to win it in regulation. They inbounded the ball to freshman guard Tristan Harkins who scored a floater with less than a second to play. The Eagles could not get another shot off, losing the game 79-77.
Sophomore forward Ceejay Jordan had a productive night offensively, leading the Eagles in scoring with 16 points on 8-for-12 shooting. Jordan recently rejoined the rotation after recovering from an injury that saw him miss the first three games of the season. He was the Eagles' leading scorer a season ago.
This weekend, the Eagles head south to Waycross, Georgia where they will match up against a pair of Region 17 opponents at the Applebee's Okefenokee Classic. On Friday they play the hosts, South Georgia State before taking on East Georgia State on Saturday. These are their final two games before opening their conference schedule at home against Denmark Tech on Saturday, December 2.
