RALEIGH, NC — Wake Tech Men's Basketball picked up their second straight win on Saturday, defeating Spartanburg Methodist 54-51 at the South Campus Gym. The Eagles are now 10-9 on the season and 3-2 in conference play. They are currently fourth in the Region 10 Division I standings. The Eagles trailed by three at the end of the first half after a banked three pointer went in for the Pioneers as time expired. Wake Tech outscored Spartanburg Methodist 34-28 after the break.
Spartanburg Methodist entered Saturday as the second-highest scoring team in the conference, but the Eagles held them to just 51 points. Wake Tech have now held their opponents to under 60 points in two consecutive games.
Sophomore forward Ceejay Jordan led the Eagles in scoring in what was mostly a defensive affair. He finished with 23 points on 9-for-14 shooting. It was his third 20-point game of the season, and 14th of his career. Eddie Volkerts added 13 points as well. He currently sits at 927 career points, less than 75 away from reaching 1,000.
Tharius Suggs didn't have his best shooting day, going just 1-for-7 from the field, but the sophomore guard contributed heavily on the defensive end. He recorded eight rebounds, all defensive, and three steals.
The Eagles host Richard Bland on Wednesday at 7:00pm at the South Campus Gym in the second game of a doubleheader. At 5:00pm Wake Tech Women's Basketball takes on Cleveland.
