Men's basketball to open season against #3 Daytona State

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Wake Tech men's basketball will open their season on Friday night, playing #3-ranked Daytona State. The game will be the second of a doubleheader as part of the Daytona State Classic, with USC Salkehatchie matching up with Polk State immediately before. The Eagles take on Polk State Saturday afternoon before returning home.

The Eagles are coming off a 19-14 season that saw them reach the Region 10 semifinal. The roster features five returning players: Shamel Baker, SJ Sorrell (redshirt in 2024-25), Charles Matheka, Tequan Holley, and Kaden Tezyk. There are five new transfers as well this season. Ben Ferguson, Saiquone Harris, and Chris Harris are already familiar with Region 10 play, with Harris coming in from Cape Fear and Saiquone and Chris from Caldwell Tech. Jalen McDonald played his freshman season at South Plains in Region 5. Andrew Navarro transfers in from Napa Valley, where he averaged 7.0 points per game in the Big 8 Conference of the 3C2A. The roster is rounded out by four true freshmen: Ethan Reid, Jaiden Shephard, BJ Solomon, and DJ Charles

This weekend's games will be streamed live on Hudl and can be viewed for $10 each.
