Wake Tech Men's Soccer tops Camp Hurricanes

Wake Tech starting 11 players

RALEIGH, NC - Wake Technical Community College improved to 2-2 with 6-1 victory over Camp (Va.) Community College Friday afternoon at WRAL Soccer Complex in Raleigh.

After a scoreless opening 20 minutes, Finley Mitchell put the Eagles on the board with a goal on an assist from Nicholas Castellanos.  Five minutes later, Alex Escamilla scored what proved to be the winning goal with an assist from Pablo Avelar.

Leading 2-0 going into intermission, Wake Tech added four goals in the closing half. Logan Coyne netted two goals at the 50th and 55th minute.  Erik Scheeres had the assist on Coyne's first goal and Escamilla assisted on the second goal.  Eduardo Lopez Solis scored his first goal as an Eagle at 65th minute with an assist from Coyne.  Grant Stuart also added his first goal at the 70th minute from Alan Hernandez.

The Hurricanes avoided the shutout with a goal late in the second period.

Wake Tech returns to action on Saturday, October 9, when they host Cape Fear Community College at 7pm at the WRAL Soccer Complex Stadium.
