Omar Asad departs for Campbell University

RALEIGH, NC – Wake Tech Men's Soccer head coach Omar Asad has departed the program after accepting an assistant coach role at Campbell University.

"I am incredibly grateful for the time I spent leading this program," Asad said. "While I'm sad to be leaving at this point in the season, I am confident that the team is in a great position moving forward. Wake Tech will always hold a special place in my heart, and they will always have a supporter in me."

Asad was named head coach in January 2018 after serving as an assistant coach for the Eagles during the 2017 season. He has recorded 28 wins at Wake Tech, and a 24-22-2 record in conference play.

"Coach Asad has been an incredible leader for our student-athletes," Athletic Director Robin Pate said. "While we will miss him at Wake Tech, this is a great opportunity for him professionally and I am excited for him."

Brandon Kind will serve as the acting head coach. The Eagles' next game is Friday, August 30 at home against Cape Fear, the first conference matchup of the season.
