Anderson and Dobbins receive All-Region honors

RALEIGH, NC – Kelly Anderson and Cyndia Dobbins both received All-Region 10 honors when they were named to the second team on Tuesday. The freshman pair were two of the Eagles' biggest offensive producers throughout the season.

Anderson finished her freshman campaign with a .400 batting average (8th among Region 10 DII players) and a .600 slugging percentage. She led the team with 37 RBI and 12 doubles. She struck out just eight times with 113 plate appearances.

On the last day of the season, Anderson set a new career-high for hits (4) when she went 4-for-4 against Southeastern, including three doubles. She drove in three runs in the 9-8 victory.

Anderson spent some time early in the season as an option at catcher for Wake Tech, but settled in as the team's starter at third base.

Dobbins was just as much of a contributor, typically hitting right in front of Anderson in the Eagles' lineup. Splitting time between first base and DP, Dobbins hi .391 with a .673 slugging percentage. She finished the year with 11 doubles, 6 home runs, and 32 runs batted in. She led the team with 110 at bats.

On March 30 against nationally ranked Louisburg, she recorded her first career multi-homer game in the narrow defeat against the Hurricanes. She finished her freshman season on a nine-game hitting streak.
