Wake Tech NJCAA Tournament Information

RALEIGH, NC - The Wake Tech Women's Basketball team has touched down in Port Huron, Mich.

Wake Tech opens up the NJCAA DII Women's Basketball Championship on Tuesday at 9am against Mesa (Ariz.) Community College

The Eagles (25-2) are the No. 11 seed and the Thunderbirds (22-7) are the No. 6 seed. Wake Tech qualified for the tournament for the first time in program history in March 2020, but the event was ultimately cancelled due to the COVID-19 global pandemic.  Wake Tech did not field Fall or Winter teams during the 2020-21 academic year. 

EAGLES PATH TO PORT HURON:
The 12th ranked Eagles qualified for the NJCAA National Tournament by claiming one of the two spots held for the South Atlantic Region.  Wake Tech punched their automatic berth to the tournament by winning the NJCAA Region 10 Division II regular season with a 17-1 record in league play. Cape Fear Community College is the the other team from Region 10 that qualified for the championship tournament.

SCOUTING THE THUNDERBIRDS:
Mesa earned their automatic bid to the tournament with their 66-58 victory over 14th ranked Pima Community College in the Region I Division II Regional Championship. The T-Birds return to the National Tournament for the first time since the 2017-18 season, when Mesa placed fourth in the championship. 

TOURNAMENT LOCATION:
The NJCAA DII Tournament is hosted by St. Clair County Community College (SC4) in Port Huron, Mich. All games will be played at the SC4 Fieldhouse. 

HOW TO WATCH THE EAGLES:
All games are live streamed on the NJCAA Network.  There is a nominal fee to view the games. Online access can be purchased for single games or the tournament.
