Baraldi inks with Wingate University Bulldogs

RALEIGH, NC – Former Wake Tech women's basketball standout Anna Baraldi has announced she will continue her academic and athletic career at Wingate University in Wingate, NC.

Baraldi played two years for the Eagles and helped Wake Tech to the 2022 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Tournament.   She also played at Dodge City (KS) Community College in 2021 during the shortened COVID season.

"I want to thank Wake Tech and Wake Tech Athletics for the chance to receive a great education and continue my basketball career," said Baraldi. "My time at Wake Tech was beyond memorable and I am so thankful I had the chance to play the sport I love with my sisters! I am looking forward to continuing playing basketball and be part of a successful program at Wingate University."

A native of Rome, Italy, she played high school basketball at Grace Christian School in Sanford, NC. 

As a sophomore, she averaged 14.2 points per game and started all 26 games in 2022-23. She had a career-high 26 points against Cape Fear Community College on November 16, 2022 and also scored 26 points against Brunswick Community College on December 10, 2021.  She also had a career high 15 rebounds against Bryant & Stratton College on March 29 in the NJCAA Region 10 Tournament.  

In addition, she was selected Second Team All-Region for the 2022-23 season by the NJCAA Region 10 DII women's basketball coaches.

Baraldi earned NJCAA All-Academic First Team recognition in her first year at Wake Tech with a 4.00 GPA.  She's also earned NJCAA Region 10 All-Academic Team recognition during both her first and second seasons at Wake Tech.

Wingate competes at the NCAA Division II level and is a member of the South Atlantic Conference (SAC).
