Women’s Soccer volunteers with Raleigh’s Note in the Pocket

Wake Tech Women's Soccer Team sorts clothes at Note in the Pocket organization in Raleigh.

RALEIGH, NC – Wake Tech's women's soccer team recently spent a morning volunteering with Note in the Pocket organization in Raleigh.

Note in the Pocket believes that it is unacceptable that children are limited in their educational and social development because they do not have appropriate clothes for school. When a school or social service agency referral partner identifies a student living in poverty, they send Note in the Pocket a request for the sizes and type of clothing needed, as well as any needs of members of the child's immediate family. Each student receives two weeks' worth of outfits in their specific sizes. This includes new socks and underwear, shoes, a variety of tops and bottoms to mix, match, and layer, and any outerwear appropriate to the season. The clothing is delivered to the school or agency that made the request.

The Wake Tech team spent the morning of Tuesday, August 30, supporting the organization with unloading and organizing donated and recycled clothing.

"In our time volunteering at their fabulous facility we had the chance to unload and organize 340 pounds of clothes," said head coach Enrique Rodriquez. "That's nearly 230 items and could provide two weeks of clothes for 11 kids."
