Seven women's soccer players named to All-Region teams

RALEIGH, NC – Seven Wake Tech Women's Soccer players were named to All-Region 10 teams on Thursday. The teams were released during Wake Tech's semifinal game against Louisburg which they won 4-1. On Saturday, the Eagles travel to Wilmington to take on Cape Fear in the Region 10 Championship. A win would secure the program's first-ever conference title.

Emily Parker – Forward, First-Team

Parker, a sophomore from Bunnlevel, NC, led Wake Tech in goals and reached double digits in scoring for the second consecutive season. Last year, Parker was named to the second-team.

Thus far in her sophomore campaign, she has recorded nine assists, increasing on her total of three from last season. Parker scored a career-high five goals in the 8-0 win against Southwest Virginia to open the season on August 30. Parker also scored a goal and added an assist in the 4-1 win over Louisburg in the Region 10 DII semifinal.

Victoria Renna – Forward, First-Team

Renna was named to the second-team after a regular season that saw her net eight goals and record four assists. She started in all seven of Wake Tech's regular season games. Renna, the Wake Forest native, scored a career-high four goals in the 9-0 win against Richard Bland on September 8. She was the second-leading scorer for the Eagles behind fellow first-team honoree, Emily Parker.

In the Region 10 semifinal against Louisburg, Renna scored the opening goal of the 4-1 victory.

Molly Schnitzer – Defender, Second-Team

Schnitzer, a freshman from Cary, NC, started in all seven regular season matches for the Eagles. She was part of a back line that kept two clean sheets and held opponents to under two goals on four occasions.

The lockdown defender has also contributed to the Wake Tech attack, recording eight points on three goals and two assists.

Christina Olivares – Midfielder, Second-Team

Olivares, a sophomore from Cary, NC has recorded 11 points for the Eagles this season on five goals and one assist. That's the same number of goals and assists from her freshman season, but on three less appearances, earning her a spot on the All-Region team.

In the Region 10 semifinal against Louisburg, Olivares came through with two goals on just three shots, including the fourth and final goal of the afternoon.  

Savannah Backholm – Forward, Second-Team

Backholm has been the link between midfield and attack all season for the Eagles, tallying seven assists so far on the year. The freshman from Dallas, TX has also scored three goals of her own.

Her best game thus far came on October 3 in a 6-1 win over Richard Bland when she totaled five points on two goals and one assist.

Jeylin Perla – Goalkeeper, Third-Team

Perla has been a mainstay in goal for Wake Tech, starting between the sticks in seven of eight games thus far. The freshman from Siler City, NC has recorded 28 saves and kept two clean sheets. She came up big in the Region 10 semifinal, recording five saves and allowing just one goal in the win over Louisburg.

Lina Chavez – Midfielder, Third-Team

Chavez is another fixture in the Wake Tech back line, starting in six of the team's eight games, typically alongside fellow All-Region honoree Molly Schnitzer. The Creedmoor, NC native has scored two goals this season, including one in the rout against Southwest Virginia to open the regular season.

The All-Region teams are selected by the Region 10 DII women's soccer coaches.
