Raleigh, NC — Seven Wake Tech Women's Soccer players received All-Region honors, it was announced on Friday. The Eagles finished their season with a 5-6-1 (4-1-1 conf.). They finished the regular season in second place behind only Cape Fear. It was the program's sixth-consecutive season with a winning record in conference play.
Kayly Pastrana, Midfielder | First-Team
Pastrana finished the season as the Eagles' leading scorer (10) across 11 appearances and 10 starts. The Shaw transfer put together a six-goal, one-assist performance in a 14-1 win over Southwest Virginia on August 26. Her other multi-goal performance came in a 5-0 win at Louisburg on September 25.
Savannah Backholm, Forward | First-Team
Savannah Backholm was one of the team's top returning players from a season ago, and this year she finished with four goals and three assists. She had two multi-goal performances this year, the first coming on August 26 in a 14-1 win over Southwest Virginia. She tallied her second brace on October 11 in a 3-0 home win against Louisburg.
Backholm finishes her Wake Tech career with seven goals and 10 assists.
Sara Palacio, Defender | First-Team
Freshman defender Palacio established herself as one of the team's main central defenders, making 12 appearances and 10 starts. She recorded her first career assist on August 26 against Southwest Virginia. In two of her starts, the team kept a clean sheet.
Chloe Pabin, Defender | First-Team
Pabin started in 11 of the team's 12 games, finding her home as an outside back. She finishes her freshman season with two goals and one assist. Her first collegiate goal came on September 25 at Louisburg, when she scored twice in the 5-0 win. Her lone assist also came in that game.
Jessica McCune, Midfielder | First-Team
McCune started in all 12 games for the Eagles, and finished the season with three goals and one assist. She scored the winning goal in a 2-1 victory against Richard Bland on October 7. She finished the season with the second-most shot attempts on the team (34), which was the third-highest total in the region.
Campbell Orr, Defender | Second-Team
Orr also started in all 12 games, and quickly established herself as a strong central defender. She started in three games in which the team kept a clean sheet.
Mariah Olivares, Midfielder | Second-Team
Olivares made 10 appearances, including eight starts in the Eagles' midfield. She finishes her freshman season with two goals, both coming from outside the box. She scored the opener in a crucial 2-1 win over Richard Bland on October 7 that helped the Eagles secure the #2-seed in the Region 10 DII Tournament.
