Harris stepping down as head volleyball coach

Brian Harris, Wake Tech Volleyball Coach

RALEIGH, NC – Wake Technical Community College athletic director Brian Anweiler today announced that Brian Harris is stepping down as head volleyball coach effective October 31.

"Coach Harris was a wonderful leader for our volleyball program," said Anweiler.  "He exemplifies the values and mission of the institution and was a great ambassador for Wake Tech and Wake Tech Athletics. We wish him well and will miss him tremendously."

Harris was named head coach in April 2019 and brought immediate success to the Eagle Volleyball program.  In his first season, he guided the Eagles to a 20-5 record and the team advanced to the NJCAA Region 10 DII semifinals.  In 2021, the team finished 16-5 and advanced to the NJCAA Region 10 DII tournament.  Due to the pandemic, Wake Tech didn't participate in the 2020-21 academic year.

"I am grateful for the opportunity at Wake Tech," said Harris. "The college and leadership have been supportive of the program and I know the team is poised for continued wonderful success well into the future."

In addition, Harris was instrumental in creating Wake Tech's new Beach Volleyball program which is slated to start as a varsity sport this Spring.

Harris is seeking to relocate from the Raleigh area in the near future.

A search will begin immediately to replace Harris.
