Eagle Volleyball take Sandhills in five-sets

RALEIGH, NC – Wake Tech Volleyball defeated Sandhills Community College in a five-set match (23-25, 25-19, 23-25, 26-24, 15-6) Tuesday evening at the Scott Northern Wake Tech Campus Conlon Hall gym.

In a game that featured double figure point swings, Wake Tech (6-2) held off a tenacious fourth set rally that saw the Flyers down 20-9 and later 24-15.  Fortunately, the Eagles held on for the 26-24 victory.  In the fifth set, the Eagle led 7-6 before scoring the next eight points to secure the 15-6 win and the match over the nationally ranked Flyers (NJCAA D3 #15).

Offensively, freshman Gabi Greene recorded 19 kills and sophomore Jaide Holliday added 11.  Freshman Anna Sipe had 20 assists and sophomore Ja'keya Paylor with 19.

Holliday added a team best three service aces and four solo blocks.  Greene had 19 digs and sophomore libero Jordyn Bruno had 15.

The Eagles return to action on Wednesday at 6pm against another nationally ranked team.  Richard Bland College is ranked #5 in the latest NJCAA D2 volleyball poll.
