Paylor, Holliday commit to Claflin University

Two former Wake Tech Volleyball standouts, Ja?keya Paylor and Jaide Holliday, have announced they will continue their academic and athletic careers at Claflin University in Orangeburg, SC. 

RALEIGH, NC –  Two former Wake Tech Volleyball standouts, Ja'keya Paylor and Jaide Holliday, have announced they will continue their academic and athletic careers at Claflin University in Orangeburg, SC.  Claflin is an NCAA Division II member and competes in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA).

Paylor, 5-5 setter from Timberlake, NC (Person), played in 43 matches during her two seasons with the Eagles.  She had a career high 29 assists in her freshman season against USC Union.  She also had a career high five aces against Central Carolina Community College as a freshman.  In her sophomore season, Paylor recorded a season best 25 assists and 13 digs in a thrilling five set win against Davidson Davie Community College.

"I feel like Wake Tech gave me the experience needed to prepare me to transfer to Claflin and keep playing volleyball at the college level," said Paylor. "I'm excited to compete in the CIAA against many outstanding programs from the Raleigh area."

Holliday, a 5-10 middle hitter from Fayetteville, NC (Grays Creek), played in 36 matches in her two years with Wake Tech. She had a career high 11 kills against Mid-Atlantic Christian University in her freshman year.  In her sophomore year, she had  a career high six service aces against Caldwell Tech and she had a career high seven solo blocks against Davidson Davie.

"I'm excited to continue my volleyball career at the next level," said Holliday.  "I've always dreamed about playing at an HBCU and I'm looking forward to competing for the Panthers."

In addition, both Paylor and Holliday participated in Wake Tech's Beach Volleyball team this spring.
