Volleyball advances to tournament quarterfinals

RALEIGH, NC — Wake Tech Volleyball advanced to the quarterfinals of the NJCAA Region 10 Division II Tournament on Tuesday evening after defeating #12-seed Guilford Tech in straight sets. The Eagles, who are the #5-seed, will take on #4-seed Southwest Virginia on Friday, November 1 at 2:00pm. The remainder of the tournament will be played at Statesmen Hall on the campus of Richard Bland College. Wake Tech finished the regular season with a 16-9 (6-5 conf.) record, matching their win total from a year ago.

When these two teams met earlier this season, Southwest Virginia picked up the win in four sets, although the final three sets of that matchup were decided by just seven points combined.

Freshman Morgan Lowman finished the regular season as the team's leader in kills (228), kills per set (2.56), and digs (307). She ranked in the top 15 among Region 10 DII players in all three of those categories. Freshman Mary Barnes led the team in assists (329) and service aces (50). She finished 10th in the region for aces.

The winner of this match will take on either #1-seed Richard Bland, #8-seed Bryant & Stratton, or #9-seed Lenoir. Both the semifinals and championship match will be played on Saturday, November 1.
